The welding reliability of the string welding machine is much greater than that of manual welding. Poor welding is an important cause of early failure of components. The design life of solar photovoltaic modules is 25 years, and the modules are usually installed outdoors, and they have to withstand temperature changes of about 30°C every day, plus seasonal changes, the temperature changes are even greater. Since the base material of the welding belt is pure copper, the expansion coefficient of copper is about six times that of silicon (battery). This difference means that as long as there is a temperature change, the welding of the welding belt and the battery will be stressed. Therefore, poor welding will cause the power of the component to decrease, and in severe cases, the component will fail. There are many reasons for bad welding caused by manual welding, such as the temperature of the soldering station, the coating of the flux, the temperature of the electric soldering iron, the proficiency of the personnel, etc. Some aspects can be solved through effective management, while some situations cannot be completely controlled.

When the ultrasonic stops acting, let the pressure continue for a few seconds to solidify and form, so that a strong molecular chain is formed to achieve the purpose of welding, and the welding strength can be close to the strength of the raw material. Ultrasonic plastic welding depends on the amplitude of the transducer welding head, the pressure and welding time and other three factors, welding time and welding head pressure can be adjusted, the amplitude is determined by the transducer and horn. The interaction of these three quantities has a suitable value. When the energy exceeds the suitable value, the melting amount of the plastic is large and the welding is easy to deform. If the energy is small, it is not easy to weld firmly, and the added pressure cannot be too large. This optimum pressure is the product of the side length of the welded part and the optimum pressure per 1mm of the edge.

The laser welding machine uses high-energy laser pulses to heat the material locally in a small area, and the energy of the laser radiation is diffused to the inside of the material through heat conduction, and the material is melted to form a specific molten pool. It is a new type of welding method. Laser welding is mainly aimed at the welding of thin-walled materials and precision parts. It can realize spot welding, butt welding, lap welding, seal welding, etc., with high aspect ratio, small weld width, small heat affected zone, small deformation, fast welding speed, smooth and beautiful weld seam, no need or simple treatment after welding, high weld quality, no pores, and precise control, the focus spot is small, the positioning accuracy is high, and it is easy to realize automation.

The laser beam may be guided by a planar optical element, such as a mirror, and then the beam is projected onto the weld with a reflective focusing element or lens.
Laser welding machine is a non-contact welding, the operation process does not need to be pressurized, but the use of inert gas to prevent oxidation of the molten pool, filler metal occasionally used.
Laser welding can be combined with MIG welding to achieve large penetration welding, while the heat input is greatly reduced compared to MIG welding.
